PULSING
Release - Connect - Transform
Rhythmic Bodywork for Deep Relaxation, Release, Connection & Transformation
Pulsing, also known as Holistic Pulsing, is a gentle, nurturing bodywork therapy that uses rhythmic rocking combined with soft pressure and subtle movements such as stretching, sifting, shaking, swinging, bouncing, and rotation. The speed and depth of the pulses respond to the individual needs, inviting a state of ease where tension and stored patterns can soften and release naturally.
The Wisdom of Rhythm
The body naturally responds to rhythm. From the heartbeat we hear in the womb to the instinctive comfort of being rocked as a baby, rhythmic movement is deeply woven into our human experience. Rocking is a primitive rhythm innate within us, one that the body recognises and responds to instinctively. This gentle rocking encourages deep relaxation, safety, and surrender.
Memories Stored in The Body
Trauma is a natural part of the human experience. When emotional experiences are not fully processed, they can be stored in the body as memory. In addition to our personal experiences, we may absorb emotional imprints from others, as well as inherit unresolved trauma through our ancestral lineage. These layers can create unconscious patterns that limit our ability to fully express our authentic selves and enjoy life.
Spaciousness Within the Body
Alongside the rhythmic rocking, gentle stretches create space within the body. As muscles, joints, and connective tissues are invited to lengthen and open, a sense of spaciousness can emerge both physically and emotionally.
Within this felt sense of spaciousness, you are invited to become curious about your inner experience. You may begin to notice sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories, or patterns that have previously remained beneath conscious awareness. As these arise, there is an opportunity to gently explore what it feels like to soften, release, and let go of what is no longer needed.
Many people experience a sense of expansion, freedom, and ease as long-held tension begins to dissolve, creating space for greater presence, vitality, and connection with themselves.
This opening is not forced or directed; it unfolds naturally, allowing the body to reveal and release only what feels safe and ready in that moment.
A Whole-Person Approach
Pulsing recognises that we are more than muscles and bones. Every experience we have lived through leaves an imprint on our physical, emotional, mental, and energetic being.
Working with the whole being — skeleton, muscles, breath, energy, emotions, and awareness — Pulsing invites a deeper connection with all aspects of ourselves. The rhythmic rocking creates a wave-like movement, a pulse that travels throughout the entire body, from the skin through the muscles and connective tissues, reaching deep into the bones. This gentle pulse encourages a sense of flow, connection, and integration throughout the whole system.
As the rhythmic wave moves through the body, areas of tension, holding, and restriction are gently invited to soften. The subtle vibration created by the rocking can be felt throughout the tissues, encouraging relaxation, circulation, mobility, and energetic flow. Rather than working on isolated parts of the body, Pulsing engages the whole person, inviting a deeper experience of presence, wholeness, and connection.
Every Experience is Unique
Every Pulsing session is unique. Some people experience deep relaxation, while others notice sensations, emotions, memories, insights, or a greater sense of connection with themselves. Some may respond with playfulness and laughter, while others experience anger, tears, or emotions that have been waiting to be expressed. Some sink deeply into a profoundly relaxed, meditative state.
There is no right or wrong experience. The body responds according to its own needs, wisdom, and readiness, revealing and releasing only what feels safe and available in that moment. Whether the experience feels subtle or profound, each session offers an opportunity to listen more deeply to yourself and reconnect with your body's natural capacity for balance, healing, and wholeness.
Healing Through Invitation, Not Force
One of the unique qualities of Pulsing is that change happens through invitation rather than intervention. There is no need to force release, analyse experiences, or relive difficult memories. The body is given permission to unfold at its own pace, revealing only what feels safe and ready to be processed.
What To Expect During a Session
Sessions take place fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table. Through gentle rocking, stretching, lifting, shaking, and rhythmic movements, wave-like pulses travel throughout the body. Many people enter a deeply relaxed state between waking and sleeping, while remaining aware of their inner experience. Each session is unique, guided by the body's own needs and natural rhythms.
Prior to your first session, you will be asked to complete an online consultation form, which we will review together when you arrive. Each session lasts up to 90 minutes and includes approximately 60 minutes of Pulsing, along with a brief check-in, integration, reflection, and discussion of your experience.

Contraindications for Pulsing
Although Pulsing is a gentle and non-invasive bodywork modality, there are circumstances in which treatment should be postponed, adapted, or avoided. Clients should inform their practitioner of any current illnesses, injuries, medical conditions, or recent surgery before receiving a session. Pulsing is contraindicated in cases of acute or unexplained pain, fever, contagious or infectious diseases, a slipped disc, serious varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), any risk of thrombosis, epilepsy, advanced osteoporosis, cancer (unless medical approval has been obtained), and during the first trimester and final weeks of pregnancy. Pulsing should also not be received while under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, or soon after eating a substantial meal.
Because Pulsing works with both physical and emotional responses, psychological considerations are also important. Clients should disclose any history of mental health conditions, psychiatric illness, or emotional instability so that the practitioner can determine whether Pulsing is appropriate and provide treatment safely and ethically.
As Pulsing can encourage deep relaxation and regressive states, it is generally not recommended for children.
To ensure your safety and wellbeing, it is essential that your practitioner is fully informed of any health conditions, medications, or concerns that may affect your treatment prior to attending a session. This applies to both clients receiving Pulsing sessions and participants attending Pulsing workshops and training programmes, who should disclose any relevant physical, emotional, or psychological conditions before taking part.
